Please add the ability to filter the Purchases by Product/Service Detail report by Customer/Project.

The report can display the Customer column, but it currently cannot be filtered to show purchases for one specific customer, subcustomer, or project. QuickBooks Support confirmed that this is a limitation of the report.

This is a major problem for businesses that use QuickBooks Online for job costing. We need this report to review the individual products and services purchased for a particular job—not merely purchases by vendor or a product/service summary.

This filter would allow us to:

See the individual products and services purchased for a specific job.

Verify that purchase lines were assigned to the correct Customer/Project.

Identify purchases that were assigned incorrectly or were not assigned to any project.

Review job costs and project profitability.

The current workaround is to export the full report to Excel and filter it there. This creates a static report that must be recreated whenever the QuickBooks data changes, and it removes the ability to drill into transactions inside QuickBooks.

Please allow users to select one or multiple customers or projects, choose individual subcustomers or projects, include or exclude transactions with no Customer/Project assigned, and save the customized report with the filter intact.

Because Customer/Project information is already available as a column in this report, it should also be available as a filter. This would make the report substantially more useful for construction companies, property businesses, professional-service firms, and every other business that tracks purchases and expenses by customer, job, or project.
