For our clients, we need to ability to create Balance Sheets and Profit and Loss reports and filter by Account Number. We have numerous reporting entities within each of our clients, and we denote those reporting entities by using a specific account number structure. All account numbers that start with 1-XXX are one reporting entity and 2-XXX is another reporting entity, etc. When we generate a Balance Sheet in QB Desktop, we can run the B/S to include only 1-XXX accounts, or 2-XXXX accounts. This is the only reason we are able to use QB Desktop. Since QB Online no longer has this feature, we will have to find different software for our purposes.
