PROBLEM with Inventory. Bills are not adding to inventory, going to "inventory offset" liability.

Hi Diane , thanks for flagging this!
What you’re seeing is expected once Item Receipts are enabled, but we agree the the enablement should be clearer.
Quick summary of the change:
Before (Bills):
Dr Inventory
Cr A/P
After (Item Receipts enabled):
Item Receipt: Dr Inventory / Cr Inventory Offset
Bill: Dr Inventory Offset / Cr A/P
So the bill no longer posts to inventory, it clears the Inventory Offset instead.
We do show a warning the first time you switch to Item Receipts (see screenshot), but based on your feedback we have updated the message in the warning and made it clear so that users understand this change before enabling item receipt.
Really appreciate you calling this out, this is helpful and something we’re looking to improve.
Regards,
Avni

Avni Savant Thank you very much. QBO seemed to have enabled items receipts on its own and we did not know what was going on. Thanks so much for clarifying this for us and other users. BRAVO!!

My feedback to Intuit is to make sure that this is clear to the user, Dianne is an experience user and she should not be caught by surprise by something like this.

hector acknowledged! Thanks for calling that out. Have made the message more explicit before the first item receipt is created. Hope that helps.

hector you are so wonderful for saying this. I most humbly thank you and appreciate you and all you do for the INTUIT end user communities!! Thanks Hector!!!

This is because the item receipt workflow is missing. In QuickBooks online, there’s a new feature that allows you to separate receiving inventory versus creating a bill. This is not an error, This is by design. To fix it make sure you complete the workflow by creating the item receipt.

hector I agree that it is not an error however this was not explained properly within the software as it was now. Just something in the past that we had an option with our desktop model and were not forced to use item receipt as we are now. Thanks again!
