Modern View of Reports

Why does AI auto fill reports when auto fill is not selected? There is no reason this function should be processing when it is not an option that is desired or wanted. I have sent multiple requests for this issue to be fixed with NO CHANGES MADE on the QBO side. It is like the programmers QB uses have no clue how to stop the AI function from doing it's own thing. You need to fix this problem because it causes incorrect categorization of transactions. If QBO desires to be accurate and helpful, fix the MIND-OF-IT'S OWN AI functions.

I want to add some additional context because this issue appears to have been discussed publicly for quite some time. On the October 23, 2025 episode of the Unofficial QuickBooks Accountants Podcast , titled “Now You Know: October 2025 QuickBooks Updates,” Alicia Katz Pollock discussed improvements announced for Modern Reports. At approximately 4:30–5:30 , the discussion specifically addresses the problem of having to manually refresh reports. The episode states that automated report refreshes were “available now as of October” and explains that after drilling into a number or changing a transaction, returning to the report should cause it to automatically update. That means this functionality was being publicly discussed as available nearly 11 months ago . The issue continued to receive attention during 2026. On April 30, 2026 , the episode “RIP Classic Reports, Long Live Modern (with Hector Garcia)” included an extensive discussion of remaining Modern Reports problems. The episode covers: * UI/UX drill-down issues at approximately 30:01 * Drill-down workflow fixes at approximately 44:11 * Other Modern Reports bugs and inconsistencies throughout the episode. Then, on July 2, 2026 , the June 2026 In the Know recap again discussed the Modern Reports rollout. Around 19:50 , the hosts discussed recent report fixes and specifically noted that users need to periodically retest functionality because Intuit continues fixing things that previously did not work. The episode also stated that the Modern Reports conversion was still occurring in phases. On July 23, 2026 , the July 2026 In the Know recap reported another 175 behind-the-scenes fixes affecting bank matching, reports, and load times, with reports discussed beginning around 16:18 . I have also heard experienced QBO users report that this particular auto-refresh problem no longer exists for them, while our firm continues to experience it. The stale-report behavior remains consistent in our environment. So my question to Intuit is no longer whether automatic report refresh is planned. It appears to have been publicly described as available since October 2025 , has continued to be discussed through multiple rounds of Modern Reports fixes during 2026, and apparently works correctly for at least some users. When will the remaining QBO users receive the same working functionality? If this is being rolled out by cohort, account, region, or platform version, please provide some transparency around the rollout. We are paying for the same QuickBooks Online product and should not still be manually refreshing financial reports nearly a year after automatic refresh was publicly described as available.

Intuit's Modern Reports update indicates that reports should automatically refresh after a drilled-down transaction is changed. This appears to be functionality Intuit previously identified and reported as improved prior to the May 22 Modern Reports transition. We work with over 120 QBO companies and consistently see reports continue to display old information after transactions are added, edited, deleted, reclassified, or otherwise changed.  The report does not reflect the change until it is manually refreshed or rerun. This does not appear to be isolated to a particular company file. The problem is particularly noticeable during: * Account reconciliations * Cleanup and reclassification work * Month-end review * Adjusting journal entries * Reviewing financial statements while making corrections * Troubleshooting differences between the books and outside records A typical workflow is to identify an issue on a report, drill into the transaction, correct it, and return to the report to confirm the correction.   If auto-refresh is functioning as intended, the corrected result should appear immediately. Instead, the report can continue displaying stale data with no indication that it is outdated. Because Intuit has already identified auto-refresh as part of the Modern Reports experience, please confirm whether this functionality works consistently across QBO. Financial reports should not silently display stale information after the underlying accounting data has changed.

A couple of issues with the minimal reporting available for this module: The heading for the column depreciation for the period might not be correct There are two totals for each category of assets for depreciation for the period and both are not formula based. The top total has no purpose. The report excludes non-depreciable and fully depreciable assets so the cost and net book value will never agree

In Classic reports, when viewing a summary report by column, if you drilled-down, you would get a detailed report that also had that same split shown as a grouping (or at least, as a column). Modern reports is missing this helpful nuance.

When I drill down into a transaction report from a primary report (such as P&L), I no longer see an option to group transactions by month. This is something I use frequently and it was available in the Classic version of reports. Now I have to export the data and manipulate it in Excel which is a huge waste of time.

Not sorting correctly (another one) In Client Insights I was able to initially sort Revenue now it gives the option but does not work I will send a recording, email me at jbello@one-8.com

When exporting to Excel from Modern View, the exported tab is not named after the report, forcing you to type the name again

Before the last report update QBOs setting 'Lowest subaccount only' was set for every report automatically. Now it's gone with no way to set it.
